Gambia U19 travels to Italy for Umbria tourney

The Normalisation Committee of The Gambia Football Federation is pleased to finally announce that a selection of U-19 players has left for Italy to take part in the annual Umbria football tourney.

A total of twenty players and five officials departed Banjul on Sunday 5th May, 2013 via Dakar to Italy where they would join counterparts from seven other countries for the one week tournament.

It would be recalled that The Gambia was invited to the Umbria tournament in 2012 as part of the technical cooperation between Italy and the Gambia Football Federation through the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The Gambia will open its account against San Marino on Tuesday 7th May in Group A before taking on Slovenia the following day Wednesday 8th May and wrapping up to Umbria on Thursday evening which shall confirm their sailing through to the next round of the tournament.

The team and officials are expected to return to Banjul next week.
